The planetarium's late-night show
Late Light is the planetarium's show for after dark. You lie back under the dome, the room goes black, and the sky carries you out past the Moon and Saturn until the whole Milky Way fits on the ceiling.
The nearest thing up there, and still more than a light-second away.
The first scroll lifts you through the open crown of the dome. A few seconds later you are beside the Moon, close enough to see the line where its day stops and its night begins.

Rings 270,000 km across, and in most places only tens of metres thick.
Sunlight takes about eighty minutes to get this far. Slow down here and you can watch the planet throw its own shadow across the rings.

Then the dome pulls all the way back. The galaxy flattens into one spiral about 100,000 light-years across, and the small gold mark halfway out along an arm is the Sun, the Earth, the planetarium and the reclined seat you are lying in.
About 26,000 light-years from the centre. Then the house lights come up.

Doors open fifteen minutes before lights down. Once the dome is dark, latecomers wait for the next chapter break, so the dark stays dark for everyone.
