About the bindery
Fenwick Bindery · Leith, since 1987We bind books the slow way. Every signature is folded by hand, sewn on linen tape and left under the press overnight, because glue dries in an hour but a spine has to last a lifetime. We do not chase the season. We keep one bench, three people and a shelf of waxed thread, and we would rather make forty books that open flat than four thousand that crack.

We open the workshop on Saturday mornings. Bring a book that needs saving and we will tell you, honestly, whether it can be.
